Procrastination: the Webster's definition: to be slow or late about doing something that should be done.
Procrastination has been said to be the thief of all time. A person who put things off willingly and intentionally are lazy. The verse above states, a person who procrastinates or is lazy is brother to someone who is wasteful. Wasteful meaning they spend what they have on wild, out of control partying. (Read Luke 15: The Prodigal son).
The procrastinator (slothful, lazy) and the prodigal (wasteful) are related in immorality. Yes their path is different, but both are wrong-doers. Their actions bring about poverty, which leads to want. God is not a God of waste, He uses even the fragmented pieces of our lives and make purposeful use of them (John 6:12). Not only do you loose time, which you can not get back, but you are counted with those who are great wasters. Come out of this danger zone if this is you.
Here are 3 action steps to help you stop procrastinating:
- Pinpoint and journal the areas where procrastination has set in
- Become intentional on breaking those bad habits
- Motivate your own self (if you don't, no one else will be able to)
