Rick Warren – Purpose Driven Life – Day 1
The opening topic to kick start the journey of discovering why you were created is “It All Starts with God”. The focal point is “it’s not about you.” When we understand our reason for living reaches far beyond our five senses we start searching for the meaning to fill the lingering question “Why am I here and what am I supposed to be doing?”This search if we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit should lead us to God the creator. Who know better what something is supposed to be/do, but the One who invented(created)it. Jeremiah 1:5 says,“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day,I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations— that’s what I had in mind for you.” (Msg translation). Jeremiah was made aware that his purpose was far greater than the limitations he could see. God informed him that it wasn’t about him but about his purpose.
1 Peter 2:9-10 says, But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.
We are asked to ponder the question “ it’s not about me”, and to think about in today’s society what can I do to remind me of this and that it’s all about God. This becomes personal because everyone has a specific purpose. Yet our common connection is for our lives to bring glory to God. As we seek God to live a God-Centered and not self centered life we must always keep in the forefront that it all starts with God.
Verse to Remember: "Everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him." Colossians 1:16b (Msg)
