When Your Light Seems Dim

Light defined is "the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible."

I chose this title for this week's blog, because it describes how I've felt quite often in these past few months. You may say, but Mona you seem okay. You're consistently putting out content, encouraging others, and supporting others endeavors. This is true, but behind the scenes there's always some struggle, distraction, or setback. I'm not looking for pity, I'm just expressing myself in hopes to help others who may find themselves in the same boat. My light seemed dim during this down period. I had allowed my trials to cloud my vision, but not my focus. The focus kept me pushing, even though my vision was off.

These experiences are all a part of life, business, and ministry. When your focus is fixed nothing will deter you from continuing on. Questions will arise, doubt will come, fear will try to creep in, but hold on to the vision ahead of you. The Vision is a vital part of the process of resilience. God commanded the prophet, Habakkuk, “Then the LORD answered me and said, “Write the vision And engrave it plainly on [clay] tablets So that the one who reads it will run. “For the vision is yet for the appointed [future] time It hurries toward the goal [of fulfillment]; it will not fail. Even though it delays, wait [patiently] for it, Because it will certainly come; it will not delay.” ‭‭(HABAKKUK‬ ‭2:2-3‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

First, you are to write it out! Write out your vision, the envisioned future you desire, the enlighten Vision God has revealed to you. After writing it out, now it's time to run! To get to the Vision you have to make progressive steps in that direction.  Your steps are directed by your strategy on how to bring the vision to fruition. Then it tells us to wait for it, for it will be come to pass. These verses reminds you that though it seems like you're running is not getting you to the Vision, just be patient, keep on going, then suddenly you'll reach your destination.

Know that in the wait God is working behind the scenes. Not only is He working behind the scenes , but He's working on You - the inner you. Your character is continuing to be developed. New ideas are being brought to your mind. Patience is kicking in. Stamina is rising. Even at times the Light in your life may seem dim as it did for me, but it's during those times you and I must remember to see the Vision, work at the Vision, and wait for the Vision.

Here are 3 things to keep in mind:

  1. Know you have power to brighten the Light! (Keep the right mindset. Refocus your thoughts on the vision ahead, not on where you are now.)
  2. Raise the switch. (There's power in the Do! Don't stop doing what you do. Consistency will pay off after awhile.)
  3. Keep the Flame Lit! (There's someone else depending on your Light to see their path clearly. Know that you're making a difference and you must stay ready for when they show up!)
